.gov/.mil HTTPS banner on every page

banner-gov-mil-https-every-page

Unaltered .gov/.mil + HTTPS copy on every page, after skipnav. Only on official .gov/.mil with HTTPS; never on .com/.org or test sites. Spanish copy on Spanish sites; `.mil` copy on `.mil`. Do not leave `aria-hidden="true"` on banner content in markup (JS sets it).

Description

USWDS requires the unaltered .gov/.mil plus HTTPS banner on every page after skipnav, only on official .gov/.mil sites with HTTPS—never on .com/.org or test sites. Spanish sites use Spanish copy; `.mil` sites use `.mil` copy. Do not leave `aria-hidden="true"` on banner content in markup (JS sets it). Customized TLD text, missing inner-page banners, or markup-locked aria-hidden fail.

When to use

Official .gov or .mil HTTPS sites that must show the federal identity banner.

Not when

.com/.org or test sites, or customized TLD banner wording.

Agent hint

Place the unaltered .gov/.mil HTTPS banner after skipnav on every official page.

Pass

Official .gov/.mil HTTPS sites show the unaltered TLD/HTTPS banner on every page after skipnav; language/TLD copy matches the site; banner content is not `aria-hidden` in the markup.

Fail

Banner on .com/.org or test; customized TLD text; missing on inner pages; or `aria-hidden="true"` left on banner content in markup.
