established-colour-conventions

Established colour conventions override the theme palette — traffic light risk, party colours, water/vegetation, finance red/black. Still label/pattern so colour is not the only channel. Do not generalize the exception.

Description

Established colour conventions override the theme palette—traffic-light risk, party colours, water/vegetation, finance red/black. Still label or pattern so colour is not the only channel. Do not generalize the exception. Pass when domain conventions override theme and colour is not the only channel. Fail when theme palette is used where a named convention applies, or colour is the only channel.

When to use

Charts using risk, party, land, water, vegetation, or finance colours.

Not when

Theme palette where a named convention applies, or colour-only encoding.

Agent hint

Honor domain colour conventions over theme; always add label or pattern channels.

Pass

Domain conventions (risk/party/land/finance) override theme; colour is not the only channel.

Fail

Theme palette used where a named convention applies, or colour is the only channel.
