Form draft links new tab named in link

form-draft-links-new-tab-named-in-link

In-form links that must not lose the draft open in a new tab, and say so in the link text — `target="_blank"` plus visible “(opent in een nieuwe tab)” (or icon + equivalent SR text inside the link). Dual-cite USWDS identify-destination; this is draft-preservation + in-link announcement.

Description

In-form links that must not lose the draft open in a new tab (`target="_blank"`) and say so in the link’s visible or screen-reader text—for example “(opent in een nieuwe tab)” or an icon with equivalent SR text inside the link. Fail if a form link opens a new tab with no in-link announcement, or if a same-tab link drops the draft when the source required a new-tab path.

When to use

Linking out from a form where leaving the tab would lose the draft.

Not when

Not for ordinary same-tab navigation that intentionally leaves a saved form.

Agent hint

Use target=_blank and name the new tab in visible or SR link text.

Pass

Draft-preserving form links use `target="_blank"` and name the new tab in the link’s visible/SR text.

Fail

A form link opens a new tab with no in-link announcement, or a same-tab link drops the draft with no new-tab path when the source required it.
