Avoid apologies alarm ambiguity in dialog titles

avoid-apologies-alarm-ambiguity-in-dialog-titles

Avoid apologies, alarm, or ambiguity in dialog titles — not "Sorry for the interruption", "Warning!", or "Are you sure?". Dual-cite Atlassian error-title (3–4 words, not "what to do") — MUI is the banned-title list on the dialog itself.

Description

When a dialog has a title, avoid apologies, alarm, or ambiguity—not “Sorry for the interruption”, “Warning!”, or “Are you sure?”. The title should name the decision so people can scan the dialog and buttons with confidence. Apologetic or alarming titles add noise without clarifying the choice. Fail when those banned titles appear on the dialog. Apply when writing titles on confirmation or alert dialogs.

When to use

Writing a title on a confirmation or alert dialog.

Not when

Not for body copy, button labels, or title-less ordinary alerts.

Agent hint

Ban Sorry, Warning!, and Are you sure? from dialog titles; name the decision.

Pass

Dialog title (when present) is not an apology, "Warning!", or "Are you sure?".

Fail

Those banned titles.
