Description
While a new password is typed, show a strength meter and the rules so the user can see whether the value meets the system’s bar. Pass when meter and rules are visible and update during entry; fail when the new-password field has no meter and/or no rules while typing. Live feedback beats discovering rules only after a failed submit.
When to use
Creating or changing a password with system strength rules.
Not when
Login-only password fields that do not set a new password.
