Privacy terms link outside label

privacy-terms-link-outside-label

Privacy / terms link sits outside the label — not “I agree to the [privacy policy]” as a nested ``. Put the link above, or in a fieldset description via `aria-describedby`.

Description

A privacy or terms link must sit outside the label—not “I agree to the [privacy policy]” as a nested ``. Put the link above, or in a fieldset description via `aria-describedby`, so the label stays text-only and operable. Nested anchors inside the agreement label break voice control and screen readers. Fail when a privacy/terms `` is nested inside the agreement ``. Apply beside consent checkboxes that link to policy text.

When to use

Linking to privacy or terms beside a consent checkbox.

Not when

Not for plain-text agreement labels with no policy link.

Agent hint

Put policy links above the control or in a fieldset description via aria-describedby.

Pass

Policy/terms link is above the control or in a fieldset description (`aria-describedby`), not nested in the ``.

Fail

A privacy/terms `` is nested inside the agreement ``.
