Clickable

forms.labels.clickable

Labels are clickable (`htmlFor` or wrapping the control).

Description

Labels must be clickable via `htmlFor` or by wrapping the control. Pass when activating the label focuses or toggles the associated control; fail when label click does nothing and there is no association. Clickable labels enlarge the hit target and keep the lasting name wired to the control for both pointer and assistive users alike.

When to use

HTML labels paired with inputs, checkboxes, or radios.

Not when

Decorative text that is not the control’s label.

Agent hint

Wire labels with htmlFor or wrapping so clicks activate the control.

Pass

Activating the label focuses or toggles the associated control via `htmlFor` or wrapping.

Fail

Label click does nothing; no association.
