Item hints one sentence

item-hints-one-sentence

Item hints: one short sentence, no full stops; no links in hint text.

Description

Hints on individual radio or select items should be one short sentence, without a trailing full stop, and without links inside the hint text. Short, link-free hints keep options scannable and avoid nesting navigation inside the choice. Multi-sentence or link-filled hints compete with the option label itself. Fail for multi-sentence hints, trailing full stops, or links nested in hint copy. Use this when adding per-item help under radios or select options.

When to use

Adding hint text under individual radio or select options.

Not when

Not for page-level help, field labels, or error messages.

Agent hint

Keep each item hint to one short sentence; ban trailing full stops and links.

Pass

Per-item hint is one short sentence without a full stop and without links.

Fail

Multi-sentence hints, trailing full stops, or links inside hint text.
