Dropdown over 5, no truncate

dropdown-when-over-5-no-truncate

Dropdown when >5 — logical sort; option text fully displayed. Dual-cite NN/g dropdown band; this is Ant's cutoff + no-truncate.

Description

On Ant data-entry surfaces, option sets larger than five belong in a dropdown, with options logically sorted and text fully displayed. Rendering more than five as a long radio list, truncating labels, or dumping an unsorted list fights that cutoff and readability. Full option text prevents guessing truncated meanings. Smaller sets can stay visible as radios or equivalent; this rule targets the oversized band.

When to use

Choice sets with more than five options.

Not when

Small option sets (five or fewer) better shown as radios or similar.

Agent hint

For >5 options use a dropdown, full labels, and a logical sort order.

Pass

A >5 set uses a dropdown (on this Ant surface), options logically sorted, text fully displayed.

Fail

>5 as a radio list on this Ant surface, truncated option text, or unsorted dump.
