Danger cancel primary when not recommended

danger-cancel-primary-when-not-recommended

If the user's intention is delete, use danger to warn. If the system does not recommend the deletion, set Cancel as the primary action. Compatible with "primary not destructive"; dual-cite, don't collapse.

Description

If the user’s intention is delete, use danger styling to warn. When the system does not recommend deletion, Cancel should be the primary and destructive must not be the recommended path. Making delete primary while discouraging it collapses that safeguard. Pair with the general rule that primary is not destructive; Ant adds the Cancel-as-primary case when deletion is discouraged.

When to use

Ant delete confirms where the system discourages the deletion.

Not when

Recommended safe primary actions that are not destructive deletes.

Agent hint

Style delete as danger; when discouraged, make Cancel primary—not delete.

Pass

Delete uses danger warning. When the system does not recommend deletion, Cancel is the primary; destructive is not the recommended/primary.

Fail

Delete is primary when the system does not recommend it; or danger/primary collapsed so destructive is the recommended path.
