One toast at a time

one-toast-at-a-time

One toast at a time — consecutive/simultaneous toasts follow a priority queue; do not stack multiple visible toasts.

Description

Toast feedback must stay readable: Spectrum allows only one toast on screen while consecutive or simultaneous messages wait in a priority queue. Stacking several visible toasts crowds the viewport and makes status hard to parse. Keep confirmations and simple notifications in that single-toast lane; escalate situations that need attention or a response to a dialog instead of piling more toasts.

When to use

System confirmations and low-priority alerts after saves or uploads.

Not when

Dialogs that need a response, or sitewide static banners and alerts.

Agent hint

Show one toast at a time; queue the rest by priority instead of stacking.

Pass

Only one toast is visible; others wait in a priority queue.

Fail

Multiple toasts stacked/visible at once.
